Description
Knees under a soft blanket, was drawn as a demonstration piece at the Ilfracombe Art trail in 2024, showing visitors the tools and techniques I was using to create my pieces. When I visited other Artists on trails or exhibitions one of the most enjoyable things for me was to interact with the artist leaning about their methods and motions to create, no mater what the art. I always found that this gave me a better understanding of their work.
I chose this piece to do as another challenge to myself, not knowing how or even if I could give the blanket the softness and texture to compliment the smoothness of the legs, I was really pleased with the result and enjoyed sharing the process with those that chose to engage with me and had the curious mind I have too.
“Knees Under a Soft Blanket” is more than just a drawing; it is an exploration of the expressive potential of the charcoal. Through textures and shading, I was pleased to transforms a seemingly simple subject into a compelling study of form, light, texture and shadow.
