Flooded fields on the Somerset levels 2023
In February 2024, I finished this challenging piece drawn in willow charcoal on cartridge paper, challenging in that it tested my ability to do the scene justice, I think I just got away with it. The light of the day lent itself to charcoal very well and draws the reflection upwards as well as down and into the foreground. I particularly like the composition with the clouds, hedges and light all contributing to taking the eye around the piece without too much effort or jarring.
This is ‘Water Street’ on the Somerset levels near where I live, as the name suggests it regularly floods and I saw this while just managing to keep my feet dry, taking the picture, on the way to Taunton, the county town of Somerset.
The original is already sold, but a limited edition of 50 is available, there will be no more and some have already been sold. These fine art prints are professionally made on a Canon Image pro 2100 High quality printer with advanced image processing and 12 colour pigment inks [Pigment inks holds it’s colour, quality and vibrancy]. The paper is Fine Art Professional Inkjet Soft White Cotton 280gsm.
