Description

Pond skater was another challenge I set myself, I wanted to see how I could get the tiny insect sitting on top of the water and there to be some distance from them to the leaves and debris under the water. I drew in a different way too. I crushed up some Wisteria charcoal I had made at home on my wood burner from cuttings my neighbour let me have. Using this fine powder, I drew with a blending stick and a soft covered pallet knife, (one of those ones from the art shops with the plastic handles and soft pad ends that you put on). It was great fun and was a big discussion point at my exhibition in Somerton where I was doing it and showed it as a demonstration piece. I took the reference pictures for it while on a wonderful trip to Vietnam with my wonderful wife a few years back, while she was swimming in a lake. This was my second attempt, I’m still working on the first.

Wisteria powdered charcoal and Cherry charcoal on Pastlemat paper, Image size 38cm x 28cm.

I’m afraid the original is now sold but if you would be interested in a professional Giclée limited edition of this piece, then please email me at hello@bobiles.co.uk for more information.
