Introducing: Wave 2024
Wave 2024 is an evocative piece of art created by Bob during a contemplative moment on Beer Beach in Devon. This shingle beach, part of the renowned Jurassic Coast, is celebrated for its unique rock formations and bustling fishing trade. I sat on the beach while my wonderful wife was having a swim in the cold Autumnal sea water. The sound of the waves on the shingles and the sea foam shapes caught my attention. I did a few sketches in my book and took a few pictures. It was a challenge and took me some time to complete but I’m very happy with the results.
I ended up drawing this piece on a piece of my eldest’s sons broken piano, after giving it a coal of white primmer paint. The charcoal is willow and compressed willow and it’s framed in a reconditioned solid wood frame from a charity shop.
The image size is 61cm x 34cm landscape and the full size in the frame is 78.5cm x 59cm
